About
Ms. Norhalilah Abdul Jalil is a Malaysian diplomat with nearly two decades of experience in bilateral, multilateral, and strategic foreign policy work. Prior to her appointment as the Consul General of Malaysia in New York, Ms. Norhalilah served as Principal Assistant Secretary at the West Asia Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Malaysia (2023–2025).
The above position was assumed after Ms. Norhalilah completed her post graduate studies at the University of Nottingham.
From 2018 to 2021, Ms. Norhalilah served at the Embassy of Malaysia in Helsinki, Finland where she held the positions of Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and later Deputy Head of Mission. Along with the Ambassador of Malaysia to Finland, she played a key role in strengthening Malaysia’s engagement with Finland, Estonia, and Latvia. Earlier, Ms. Norhalilah was posted to the High Commission of Malaysia in Singapore from
2010 to 2014, where she served as Second Secretary (Political) and later as Counsellor.
Within the Ministry, Ms. Norhalilah has held a range of senior positions, including as:
- Deputy Director, Department of Policy Planning (2021–2022);
- Principal Assistant Secretary, Multilateral Department (2014–2018); and
- Assistant Secretary, Management and Services Department (2006–2010)
Throughout her career, Ms. Norhalilah has participated and been heavily involved at numerous high-level international platforms including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), World Economic Forum (WEF), and various bilateral consultations with the West Asian countries.
Ms. Norhalilah also holds a Bachelor of Marketing (Hons) and a Diploma in Business Administration from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).
